چکیده

Isolated atresia of the aortic arch is rare. In aortic arch atresia the arch is continuous, yet a segment of it is atretic so that apart from a collateral circulation, communication with the lower aortic segment is absent. Haemodynamically, the condition is similar to complete interruption of the aortic arch. To our knowledge only 10 cases of isolated aortic arch atresia or interruption have been reported. '9 In eight cases, the diagnosis was confirmed at operation, one case was diagnosed but untreated,8 and in one patient, the diagnosis was made at necropsy.I In this report we present a 65-year-old man with isolated atresia of the aortic arch which was subsequently corrected by operation. The anatomical aspects, diagnostic problems, and surgical approach are discussed, with a review of the previously published cases.

A Case Report of Variant Origin of Left Vertebral Artery from Aortic Arch and its Embryological Explanation

Vertebral artery is the first branch of subclavian artery. It merges with the same artery of the opposite side to form basilar artery and becomes one of the important source of blood supply to the brain. Variation in the origin of left vertebral artery was found in 65 year old female during magnetic resonance angiography of the neck vessels. It originated from aortic arch and was longer as ...

Atresia of the Aortic Arch in 4-Year-Old Child: A Clinical Case Study

Atresia of the aortic arch is a rare congenital heart defect with a high mortality when associated with other intracardiac defects. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) provides the exact anatomy of the aortic arch and collateral circulation and is useful to diagnose-associated aortic arch anomalies. This report describes the case of a 4-year-old child with atresia of the aortic arch, referred to o...

We report an IAA case that of a 45-year-old male patient who survived for 45 years without surgical treatment. PATIENT CONCERNS A 45-year-old ma...

Simultaneous Endovascular Approach for Aortic Arch Aneurysm Associated with Aortic Valve Stenosis. What Have We Learned?

Aortic arch aneurysms are rarely isolated entities, and most frequently associated with either ascending or descending aorta pathologies. Association with aortic valve stenosis is uncommon and traditional surgical treatment is always challenging. Here we report a minimally invasive and endovascular management of these two pathologies in a 89-year-old man with LAD-stented ischemic cardiomyopathy...
